Cellist Noah Lee (18), first appeared on NPR's From the Top with Host Christopher O'Riley in 2011 ( Show 241 ). The "Back to BACH" Project is a global initiative to inspire music and arts education to young children, and to teach them the value of hard work and passion. Technically he played at his age level. Noah Lee is the founder and president of the Back to BACH project, an international initiative to encourage children to learn an instrument and develop a love of music. Most competitors were 16 or 17 years old, and had started practicing their instruments by age 4. Young people in this country love classical music. It was a shot of adrenaline to hear their screaming and cheering after I finished playing. Following this, Noah Lee made his European solo recital debut with the Zagreb Soloists in the Euphrasian Basilica in Porec, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. At the age of 14, Noah was again the first American cellist to win the grand prize at the 10th International Antonio Janigro Cello Competition in Porec, Croatia. On Sundays he went with his family to Living Hope Church in Paramus, and occasionally practiced with the Heart Strings Cello Ensemble, a five-piece group he co-founded to raise money for church missions around the world. In the fall, Lee will enter Harvard Universitywhile also working to incorporate Back to Bach as a nonprofit organization, expanding it to five additional countries. Lees rise to international prominence in classical music certainly didnt seem to take long. We are looking forward to the "Back to BACH" Project " starting in Alameda County, CA. He also receives a scholarship from the International Academy of Music in Liechtenstein, and participates in the intensive music weeks held there.
