The word for hearken/obey (hupakouo) repeatedly has the sense of obey in the New Testament (for all the other places this term is found see Matthew 8:27; Mark 1:27; Mark 4:41; Luke 8:25; Luke 17:6; Acts 6:7; Acts 12:13 -answer/hearken; Romans 6:12; Romans 6:16-17; Ephesians 6:1; Ephesians 6:5; Philippians 2:12; Colossians 3:20; Colossians 3:22; 2 Thessalonians 1:8; 2 Thessalonians 3:14; Hebrews 5:9; Hebrews 11:8; 1 Peter 3:6).
